The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) invites high school and undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in science to submit applications for the 2016 NIDA Summer Research Program. To apply and for complete program information, see the online application form. · Interns work with NIDA funded scientists at research institutions across the United States for 8 weeks in the field of substance abuse and addiction research. Internships may involve a variety of experiences including laboratory experiments, data collection and analysis, patient interviews, literature reviews and more. · Interns receive a stipend (high school $10/hr, undergraduates $12/hr), and if necessary and eligible, provisions for travel and housing expenses. · Through this program, NIDA encourages the participation of high school and undergraduate students who are from racial/ethnic populations nationally underrepresented in the biomedical, behavioral, and clinical sciences, although students from any race/ethnicity may apply.
